Rodney "Red" DuBray

Rodney “Red” DuBray, 77, of Weedsport, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at home, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on Saturday, January 6, 1934, he was the son of Ameddy Oliver DuBray and Hazel Emma Moody DuBray. He was raised in Saranac Lake and lived over 30 years in Orlando, Florida, until moving to Weedsport in 2007. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Rod was a self-employed plumber with Rod DuBray Plumbing in Orlando, Florida for over 35 years, retiring in 2007. He previously worked for Duke's Plumbing and owned several service stations and used car lots in Syracuse. Rod was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them, including his beloved canine companion, Baby Moochie. He was a collector of all sorts of items, especially coins, and enjoyed going to flea markets. His favorite place in Florida to spend time with his friends was the Daybreak Restaurant. Rod was predeceased by his sister, Nancy DuBray. Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Jeff Hollfelder of Weedsport, Cheryl DuBray of Syracuse and Kristin and Anthony Viviano of Florida; sons, Rodney of Montezuma and Scott of Fort Myers, Florida; brothers, Bud, Hugh and David; sisters Pat and Marilyn; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Tracy, Lana and Val and the many friends at Daybreak Restaurant in Florida. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Troilo and Mary Lou. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, October 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rodney will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
