Robin Lee Steencken, 74, of Skaneateles, passed away Saturday at her home. Born in Owosso, Michigan, she moved to the Syracuse area in 1975, ultimately settling in Skaneateles. She attended Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich., where she studied early elementary education. After that, she devoted herself to assisting her husband in his dental practice and raising their three children. Robin enjoyed ballroom dancing, ballet, and classical music, particularly Rachmaninoff and Chopin. She was an excellent artist and writer as well. Robin was known for her wonderful sense of humor and infectious smile. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren, and sharing her smile and seeing those around her smile.
Robin was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Patricia Gross and her sister, Elizabeth Gross.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Joseph; children, Joseph (Luciana) of Colombia, Rachelle (Roger) Apple of Avon, CT and Gregory (Amanda) of Tully; brothers, Hal Gross and Allen Dean Gross; sister, Jeannine Thompson; grandchildren, Corinne, Alex, Nicholas, Maximilian, Charlotte, and Carolina; great-granddaughter, Joss and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, January 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Robin will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery, Skaneateles.
