Roberta J. Haag Tompkins, 86, of Elbridge, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Francis House. A lifetime resident of the Elbridge area, she was born on Saturday, July 17, 1926, and was the daughter of Harris C. Haag and Marion E. (Elliot) Haag. She retired from Welch Allyn in 1991. The mother of 12 children, she was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them. Roberta was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Lou Tompkins, son-in-law, John Shackleton, great-granddaughter, Cassidy Lamson; and brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Vivian Haag. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, James Daniel; daughters and sons-in-law, Eileen Shackleton of Camillus, Gloria and Ed Daniszewski of Solvay, Rosemary and Dennis Kelly of Moravia, and Marsha Tompkins of Elbridge; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Ruth of Syracuse, Carl and Avis of Memphis, Michael and Prudy of Baldwinsville, James and Brenda of Jordan, Mark and Steve of Syracuse, Randy of Elbridge, and Ernie and Kelly of Auburn; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Friday, February 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 2 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Roberta will be laid to rest in Belle Isle Cemetery, Warners.
