Roberta Waterbury Fagan

Roberta Waterbury Fagan, 96, of Marcellus, passed away peacefully on Sunday at home. She was born in Cleveland, OH, and moved to Utica with her parents, Shaw and Leila Waterbury, in her teenage years. Roberta was a graduate of Cortland State Teachers College. She was employed as a physical education teacher and taught swimming in Utica until she married George A. Fagan and moved to Marcellus Falls.

Roberta and her husband raised five children in a pleasant country setting. She loved nature and wildlife, supporting many of their causes. Roberta embraced many activities with enthusiasm, including horseback riding, swimming, skiing, dancing, and hiking. She especially enjoyed hiking with her dogs. Roberta and her husband were members of the Tramp and Trail Club of Utica. Her youngest daughter remembers her mother taking her to Syracuse baseball games. Roberta had a penchant for letter writing. She delighted in corresponding with her niece and various friends and family. Roberta enjoyed singing and participated in various choral groups in Marcellus. She also enjoyed baking, gardening, engrossing herself in a good book, and volunteering her time at the Maxwell Memorial Library in Camillus.

Roberta was predeceased by her husband and parents.

Surviving are her five children, Shaw Fagan of Syracuse, Lee Anne Colas of Onondaga, Brett Fagan of Bozeman, MT, Brian Fagan of Marietta, and Erin D'Acunto of Spring Hill, FL; sister, Ann Johnson of Highland; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a niece and nephew.

Funeral services will be private. 

Roberta will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery, Marcellus.
