Robert Walter Kaljeskie, 89, of Solvay, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a Navy veteran of World War II. Robert retired in 1989 after 18 years with the Liverpool School District. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Robert was an avid golfer, enjoyed camping, woodworking and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Robert was predeceased by his wife, Patricia, in 2009; sons, David and Gary; and sister, Alberta. Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca Tice of Camillus; sons, Rob and Jim, both of Solvay; brother, William (Josephine) of North Syracuse; sister, Patricia Frego of Sandy Creek; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, August 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Friday, August 21 at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Robert will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Robert's memory to one's favorite charity.
