Robert W. Fitzgerald, 84, of Camillus, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Central Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Born and raised in Hornell, he moved to the Syracuse area in 1956. Robert was a graduate of Solvay High School and attended Syracuse University. He was employed with New York State Department of Transportation for 39 years before retiring in 1995. Robert was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and Holy Family Church. He was an avid sportsman and also enjoyed cruising and model trains and railroads. Above all, Robert loved to spend time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Helen; and sister, Nancy.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Cecelia Huzarewicz; sons, Patrick (Danielle Kirkpatrick) of Westvale, James of Minoa and Mark (Vicki Millick) of Dryden; grandchildren, Christine (Paul) Knudsen, Erin, Jaime, Kye, Clare and Griffin Fitzgerald; and several nieces.
The family would like to thank Central Park for their loving care and compassion given to Robert.
Calling hours and services will be private at this time. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held in Holy Family Church at a later date for family and friends.
