Robert T. Castilano, 90, of Camillus, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at the VA Medical Center. Born in Clyde, he moved to Camillus in 1957. A graduate of Clyde Central, Robert earned his bachelor's degree from St. Bonaventure and master's degree from SU. He was an Army veteran of WWII and employed with the West Genesee Central School District for 29 years before retiring as a principal in 1986. Robert was a communicant of Holy Family Church and member of the NYS Teachers Assoc. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed boating and carpentry. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Robert was predeceased by his wife, Janet, in 1994; five sisters; and three brothers.
Surviving are his sons, Thomas (Cheryl) of Nedrow, Jim of Lake Hartwell, GA and Gary of Camillus; grandchildren, Rose, Mary, Theresa, Anna, Bernadette and Catherine; great-grandchildren, Alice, Mia and Jacob; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, October 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 23 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Robert will be laid to rest in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Clyde.
