Robert "Bob" Sweeney, 80, of Howlett Hill, passed away Thursday at home. A lifetime resident of the Howlett Hill area, he attended Marcellus Central School. Bob owned Sweeney's Septic for 40 years before retiring in 2012. He was a member of Teamsters Local 317 for 10 years and was a former assistant chief and volunteer with the Howlett Hill Fire Department. Bob enjoyed working, spending time with his family, his dogs (Shadow and Bear), attending races, summer concerts, and Broadway shows. He will be best remembered for riding in his golf cart around the neighborhood.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Anne “Betty” Sweeney.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, the former Sonya Ann Wild; daughters, Patricia Ann (Patrick) Will of Marietta and Donna Marie Sweeney of Camillus; sons, Robert Edward of Tully and Raymond Herbert of Redfield; sister, Sharon (Tom) Klee of Fairmount; brother, Bill of Elbridge; four grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, January 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Thursday, January 20 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Bob will be laid to rest in Howlett Hill Cemetery, Syracuse.
