Robert "Bob" H. West, 98, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday at The Cottages at Garden Grove, Cicero. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was an Army veteran of WW II. He graduated from Cortland High School in 1935 and was a 1940 graduate of Syracuse University. Bob was a chemist for 30 years with Crucible Steel, retiring in 1979. A longtime member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, he was also very active with the CNY Chapter of Retired Officers Association of America and the Theatre Pipe Organ Society. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Conchita, in 1980; and sister, Vivian Boyan. Surviving are his daughters, Carol (Scott) Plant of Clay and Judith (Paul) Storch of Syosset; sons, Robert (Pam) West Jr. of Meriden, CT and Stephen (Suzanne) West of Camillus; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and niece, Barbara (Tim) Tyson of Atlanta, GA. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, July 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt at the convenience of the family.
