Robert F. “Bob” Finnerty, 89, of Camillus, passed away Friday.
He was born in Boston, MA on December 19, 1931 to William J. and Marie Lyndon Finnerty. Bob attended Boston English High School and Suffolk University. A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the Army Security Agency.
Bob was transferred to Syracuse in 1961 while working for the Lincoln Dept. Stores. It was there he met the love of his life, Joyce Ariola. Bob worked for several companies including 30 years with Phillips Broadband Network, retiring as director of customer relations in 1999. Bob had spent the past several years as an indentured servant to his two grandchildren whom he adored. He will be missed immensely for being a caring and loving dad. He will also be remembered for his intellect and unique sense of humor.
Bob was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, the former Joyce Ariola; parents, William and Marie Finnerty; sister, Connie DeFrusio; and brother, William Finnerty, Jr.
Surviving are his daughter, Lisa (Gino) Coggi of Clay; son, Sean (Karen) Finnerty of Syracuse; brother, Gerald Finnerty of Hanover, MA; and sister, Aline Ellinghausen of Stone Mountain, GA. Bob also leaves his two adored grandchildren, Kyle Coggi of Camillus and Capri J. Coggi of Boston, MA.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, September 15 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Robert will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
