Robert Bev Horsman, 90, of Westvale and Camillus, a beloved husband, father and friend, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2005 after an extended illness. He was born in Elgin, New Brunswick, Canada on June 26, 1915 and became a naturalized citizen of the United States. He was a graduate of Syracuse University Engineering Program, with numerous honoraries, including Tau Beta Pi. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and member of the American Society of Heating and Refrigeration Engineers. Bev retired from General Electric and was a member of the Elfun Society. Through GE, Mr. Horsman was a consultant to Wright Field during World War II in the development of electronics for fighter aircraft. Robert had a great love for the outdoors and his community. He was active in the Westvale Optimists, Westvale Golf Course, the Carpenter's Fish Hatchery, Boy Scout Pack 82, Mid-State Youth Hockey and Make Sure-Make Shore Boating Program. Bev, also known by friends as RB, is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen Petey Horsman; daughters, Susan K. Hart of Albany and Nancy Leach (Richard) Houyoux of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; sons, Robert (Grace) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Richard (Ellen) of Olympia, Washington and Jim of Camillus; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, William Patrick. Services will be private. There are no calling hours. Friends are asked to celebrate Bev's life and love of family.
