Robert "Bob" Vincent Manning Jr., 92, of Camillus, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. Born in Newton Center, MA, to the late Robert and Margaret Manning, he was a 1953 graduate of Boston College with a degree in finance where he also played baseball as their shortstop. After graduation, Bob served two years in the U.S. Army before his marriage to his wife, Sally, for 54 wonderful years. He worked his entire career at General Electric as the manager of finance, retiring in 1992. During his career, Bob traveled the world and always brought home gifts from abroad for his children. He was an avid golfer at Bellevue Country Club, as well as a daily walker of the Erie Canal. Bob could also be found fishing with Sally in various locations around Central New York. He enjoyed many sports, including baseball and hockey, but he especially loved watching all the sports his children and grandchildren were involved in.
Bob was predeceased by his loving wife, Sally, on July 4, 2014; grandson, Brian Jacob; and sisters, Kay lcardi and Margaret Saunders.
Surviving are his children, Mary (John) Milligan of Bridgeport, Kathleen (Doug) Allen of Ocala, FL, Anne (Tammy Cheman) Manning of Middletown, CT, Sarah (Mark) Jacob of Pittsford, Sheila (Paul) Mello of Syracuse, and Robert (Valerie) Manning of Helena, AL; grandchildren, Sarah, John, and Michael (Alexis) Milligan, Daniel, Jeremy, Gracie, and Bobby Jacob, Meghan, Anastasia, and Margaret Mello, and Michael and Kate Manning; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Sr. Kathleen Reagan, SSJ, and Patricia Reagan; and brothers-in-law, John and James Reagan.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, November 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the church.
Bob will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, 577 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
