Robert M. Richards Sr., 94, of Camillus, died in the presence of his loving family Monday, October 12, 2015 at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a lifetime resident of the Camillus area and an Army veteran of World War II. Robert retired in 1984 after 40 years with Crucible Steel. He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church. An avid SU fan, he was also a member of the Camillus Sportsmen's Club and lifetime member of the VFW but above all, loved spending time with his family. Robert was predeceased by his first wife, Sarah, in 1972; second wife, Mary, in 2014; and daughter, Janet Plants, in 2005. Surviving are his sons, Robert (Rosemarie) Richards Jr. of North Syracuse and Daniel (Domenica) Crough of Newton Square, PA; stepdaughters, Terry (Donald) Dixon of Syracuse and Beth (Robert) Beers of Brewerton; stepson, Michael (Barbara) Droll of Canastota; sister, Julia O'Connell of Syracuse; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Friday, October 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 17 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Robert will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
