Robert “Bobby D” Hugh DeSormeau, 66, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Francis House in the loving presence of his family. Born Sunday, November 4, 1945, he was the son of Leo Paul DeSormeau and Esther Genell DeSormeau. He spent his life in Syracuse. Bob cherished his time spent with family at their Old Forge residence where he spent summers on the crystal waters of the Fulton Chain of Lakes. He was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1966-1968. Bob was a loyal and active member of the Teamsters Local 317, spending nearly 30 years working for the P&C Companies. He was an avid dog lover and with his wife, Shelley, raised and trained many beautiful retrievers over a 40-year span. A communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, he would joyfully attend Mass at Most Holy Rosary Church and Assumption Church. Surviving are his wife, Rochelle Bannon-DeSormeau; daughters and son-in-law, Brea and Jason Allers of Syracuse and Tegan DeSormeau of Camillus; sons and daughter-in-law, Zachary of Camillus and Garson and Lauren of Taunton; grandchildren, Alivia, Wyatt and Evelyn Allers; brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Sharon DeSormeau; and niece, Kim (John) Bell, all of Jamesville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 20 at 11 a.m. in Most Holy Rosary Church. Burial will be private in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus. Bob will be remembered by his big heart, tremendous laugh and his unending love for his family. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
