Robert E. Detor Sr., 98, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of Central Tech High School and Syracuse University, where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, Theta Tau and Pi Mu Epsilon.
Robert was owner of Detor Construction for over 35 years. He was a former communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. An avid golfer, bowler and fisherman, he also loved spending time at his camp on Cazenovia Lake with his family. Robert was also an ice skater and would often skate in city tournaments.
Robert was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, the former Mary Crowley, in 2016; parents, Joseph and Letitia Detor; and sister, Letitia “Betty” Cosco.
Surviving are his daughter, Kathleen Dunne of Washington Crossing, PA; sons, Robert (Sally) of Long Island, Joseph (Lyn) of Liverpool, Peter (Vicki) of Onondaga Hill, Edward (Diane) of Syracuse, and Daniel (Mary) of Cazenovia; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Nadia for her loving care and compassion for Robert over the past years.
Services will be private. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
