With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Robert “Bob” J. Daino, 81, who departed this life on March 24. He was a devoted husband, a cherished father, and a beloved grandfather. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing he lived a life filled with love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Born on St. Patrick’s Day in the Lyncourt neighborhood of Syracuse, Bob was a man of great character, integrity, and humor. He graduated from Central Technology High School and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Niagara University. Bob dedicated his life to his family, always providing the best he could for them. Whether offering a guiding hand, a listening ear, or a warm embrace, he had a way of making everyone around him feel special and valued. Bob’s wit and charm could win over even the biggest skeptics. Along with his time in Syracuse, he enjoyed many years in West Palm Beach, Florida, with his loving wife, Judy, as well as with his friends and colleagues.
Beyond his role as a father, Bob was a cherished friend, mentor, and pillar of his community. His career spanned over 35 years, most of which he spent as the owner of Continental Securities Corporation in Syracuse. Bob was passionate about giving back to his communities, supporting numerous institutions in New York and Florida. Some of the causes closest to his heart included the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Francis House, the Syracuse Symphony, and serving as a trustee at Niagara University, his alma mater. Bob’s generosity and dedication touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and strength. Our family will continue to honor his memory by living with the same compassion and humor he exemplified. He is now reunited with Judy, resting in eternal peace.
Bob was the foundation of our family. He instilled in us the values of perseverance, a strong work ethic, and, above all, kindness. We will miss his smiling face, his signature one-liners filled with sage advice, and his unwavering support of our endeavors.
Surviving are his daughter, Jill; son, Rob (Linh Nguyen); and grandchildren, Zade Krakower, and Chloe and Luca Daino.
A memorial service and celebration of Bob’s life will be announced in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Robert J. Daino ’66 may be made to the John T. Crotty ’66 Scholarship at Niagara University, 11 Vincentian Dr., P.O. Box 2008, Niagara University, NY 14109, or online at www.niagara.edu/donate, noting “IMO Robert Daino” in the comment box.
Rest in peace, Dad. Your love and legacy will live on forever.
