Risto Sidorovski, 78, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Monday at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Openica, he was raised in Porodin, Macedonia. In 1965, Risto completed technical school in Bitola and shortly after went to live and work in Australia for three years. In 1969, he went back to Macedonia to marry the love of his life, Menka. Risto and his wife immigrated to the United States in 1970 and settled in Syracuse where they started their family.
Risto spent 34 years at Chrysler/New Venture Gear, retiring in 2006. He was an active and dedicated member of St. George Macedonian Orthodox Church, serving countless hours across multiple committees and boards, always looking to contribute to the growth and prosperity of the congregation.
Risto was passionate about gardening and spending time with his close-knit family. What brought Risto the greatest joy and pride was his beloved grandchildren, always attending and supporting their sporting events and activities. You could always find Risto on the sidelines and in the audience. He was their biggest fan!
Risto was predeceased by his parents.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Menka; daughter, Kathy (Timothy) Klementowski of Syracuse; son, Johnny (Angie) Sidorovski of Syracuse; cherished grandchildren, Cecilia Sidorovski, Ryan Klementowski, and Johnny Sidorovski Jr.; sister, Stojna (George) Dimovski of Syracuse, and her family; brother, Dimce (Vesa) Sidorovski of Australia, and his family; cousin, Paca (Peter) Dimovski of Syracuse, and her family; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to honor Risto’s life on Sunday, July 28, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. George Macedonian Orthodox Church, Syracuse. A Trisagion service will follow at 6 p.m. at the church.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 10 a.m. in the church.
Risto will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. George Macedonian Orthodox Church, 5083 Onondaga Rd., Syracuse, NY 13215.
