Richard “Dick” T. Burke, 79, of Camillus, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020. He was a life long resident of the Syracuse area, growing up in Fairmount and graduating from West Genesse High School. He was drafted into the US Army and served in Korea for two years. After his service, he worked at the Pennysaver and then owned Court Street Liquors for many years.
More recently, Richard was a phlebotomist with Industrial Medical Associates and, prior to his retirement, a program manager with BOCES. He attended Holy Family Church and, over the years, enjoyed fishing, boating, cooking and traveling to Sylvan Beach in his RV.
Dick was dedicated to his family. He was a compassionate person who selflessly cared for his wife, Mary (Crosby), during an extended illness before her passing in 2014.
He was also predeceased by his first wife, Patricia (Koagel).
Surviving are his stepson, Michael (Jenny) DeMauro, Kirkville; twin sister, Mary Louise (Ronnie) Mattson, Holliston, MA; two nieces, Pamela (Daniel Davis) Mattson, Hopkinton, MA and Lucinda (Charlie) Coughlin, Holliston, MA; several wonderful grandchildren and many extended family members.
Relatives and friends may call, 8:30 a.m to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 3 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Dick will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery. Face coverings are required.
