Richard “Rick” Williams, 68, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifetime resident of Syracuse. He grew up in Auburn and in his early 20’s ventured off to California with his soon to be wife, Sue. During his time in California, Rick earned a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University and got married. After eight years in California, Rick returned to New York to start a family. From the moment he started a family they always came first. He had various accounting jobs before settling down as an accountant for Onondaga Community College and stayed there for 20 years. During retirement, Rick filled his time with watching the stock market, listening to his favorite music, and rooting on SU sports and the Buffalo Bills. However, the time spent with his family was what he enjoyed most. In his final year he was blessed with a grandson, Jacob, who lit up his life.
Rick and his family enjoyed his favorite place, camp on Fourth Lake in the Adirondacks. They would enjoy swimming, boating and epic campfires. Some might say he was reserved, but he was never too shy to crack a joke or cheer someone up. Rick was a gentle man with great integrity. Despite the fact that he is no longer here to lead his family, he taught us how to live and that you always put your family first. Even if he is no longer with us, we will carry the lessons he taught us for a lifetime and pass them down for generations. He set an example on how to be a good father, brother, husband, grandfather and person. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
Rick was predeceased by his parents, William and Angie; and brother, Thomas.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Susan; sons, Thomas of Clay, Patrick (Amanda) of Syracuse and John of Liverpool; beloved grandson, Jacob; and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
At Rick’s request, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 6229, Syracuse, NY 13217.
