Richard Q. “Rick” Ryan, 37, formerly of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. Born in Syracuse on Friday, January 7, 1972, he lived in Wilkes Barre since 2000. A 1990 graduate of West Genesee High School, Rick was an avid sports fan who played lacrosse and wrestled. He was also a graduate of Onondaga Community College. He was employed by Sundance Vacation in Wilkes Barre and also by Vision Incorporated in Wilkes Barre as an applied life skills instructor. Rick served in the Army and Army Reserve since 1991. He was a former communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He enjoyed family and notably he was a kind and compassionate person, always willing to lend a hand. Rick was predeceased by his father, Richard Q. Ryan. Surviving are his mother, Kathleen McKean Ryan of Camillus; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Holly Ryan of Syracuse, Robert and Christine Ryan of Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Edward Ryan of Syracuse; sister, Michelle Ryan of Wilkes Barre and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and graveside services at 9:30 a.m. in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
