December 12, 1942 — February 3, 2025

Camillus

Richard Charles Mahan,82, joined the Lord, and his beloved daughter, Lisa, on Monday, passing peacefully at his home in Camillus.

Born on December 12, 1942, to Charles and Jeanne Mahan, Richard graduated from Liverpool High School and later attended Powelson Business Institute. He spent 30 years working for Ford New Holland, selling farm equipment before retiring and dedicating much of his time to volunteer work. Richard gave back to his community through organizations such as Camp Good Days, Ronald McDonald House, and Catholic Charities. He was also a devoted communicant of St. Lucy’s Church in Syracuse.

Richard had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed bicycling, exercising, playing tennis, and pickleball. However, his greatest joy was always the time spent with his family, whom he cherished dearly. Among his fondest memories were family trips to camp at Sylvan Beach and witnessing four generations of loved ones enjoying one of his favorite places, Ridin-Hy Ranch.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Jeanne (Sgroi); and daughter, Lisa Mahan.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the love of his life, Constance; daughters, Jean (Dan Rice) Burnham of Marcellus, Deborah (Mark) Farrell of Baldwinsville, and Tracy (Tim) Quilty of Camillus; grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) Quilty, Cassidy Rosemelia, Brandy Burnham, and Brandon Burnham; great-grandchildren, Aniya Tucker and Elliott Quilty; and many cousins.

To celebrate Richard’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Vineyard Church, 312 Lakeside Rd., Syracuse. A celebration of his life will follow at the church.

Richard will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of CNY, 1100 E. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13210.
