Richard Johnson, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the age of 78, surrounded by his family. He grew up in Cardiff. Richard was a hard worker, retiring from Allied Chemical, and then driving a taxicab until 2014. He loved tennis, Jim's Fish Fry, reminiscing with his siblings, college basketball and his sister Eileen's spice cake. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Carol, and their two trips to Colorado. Surviving are his loving wife, Carol; children, Timothy (Meg Needham) of Syracuse and Sara (Bobby) Bice of Watertown; siblings, Thelma Fitch of Camillus, Earl (Theresa) of New Woodstock, Al Johnson of Cardiff and Eileen (John) Turner of Tully; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, February 27 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
