Richard J. Troch, 73, of Camillus, passed away at home Thursday December 17, 2020. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse and Camillus area, where he graduated from Corcoran High School.
Richard was a US Navy Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Ranger CV-61, and the USS Constellation CV-64, where he was awarded Sailor Of The Month.
He retired in 2002 from the Syracuse City School District where he worked as a head custodian for 36 years. He was a member of CSEA.
Richard was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church.
His hobbies included hunting and traveling, but most of all, loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Nellie Troch, and brother, Nicholas Troch Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Jane Shewchuk, daughter Michelle (Cliff) Williams of Wilson, NC; son, David Troch of Camillus; grandchildren, Tyler Troch, and Brooke Troch of Camillus, Logan, and Emily Williams of Wilson, NC; sister Mary Robinson of Roswell, GA; brother Ronald Troch of Syracuse, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, December 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A Panakhyda service will follow at 6 p.m. Face coverings are required.
A private funeral service for family will be held Wednesday, December 30 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery Chapel. Richard will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 207 Tompkins St., Syracuse, New York 13204.
