Richard A. "Dick" Nolan, 83, of Camillus, passed away on Father's Day, June 18, 2017 at University Hospital. Born in Syracuse, he was a lifetime resident of the Camillus area. He was a graduate of Central High School and received his bachelor's degree from Syracuse University in 1957.
Richard married his wife, Marlene, in 1955 and this past April they celebrated their 62nd anniversary. He worked in the Heavy Military Division of General Electric Co. for 37 years, retiring as a contract manager. Upon retirement, he served as a special consultant at Lockheed Martin. A communicant of Holy Family Church, he was also a member of the Camillus Lion's Club and Elfun Society at GE.
A lifelong sports fan, Richard coached little league for his sons, played in a softball league for Holy Family and was a SU football season ticket holder. He was a former SU basketball and NBA Syracuse Nationals fan in the 50s. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marlene Shaffer; daughter, Lynn (Darryl) Rotolo of Solvay; sons, Richard Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Timothy of Baldwinsville and Christian of Albany; brother, Robert (Janet) of Liverpool; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, June 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 22 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Richard will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
