Rhea I. Valladares, 91, of Camillus and formerly of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2009 at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Trinidad, West Indies on Saturday, November 3, 1917, she was the daughter of Simeon DeSilva and Agnes Commissono DeSilva. Rhea resided in Syracuse before moving to Florida, Savannah, Georgia and Hilton Head Island for several years before returning to Camillus. Rhea enjoyed being a homemaker and was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed playing tennis and boating with her husband, George, who passed away on February 19, 1996. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Richard and Mary Valladares of Fairmount; daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Grabosky, Elizabeth and John Canino, and Heather McDonald, all of Camillus, Patricia and Skip Vanderwall of Birmingham, Alabama, and Karen and David Rafferty of Tampa, Florida; brother, Lloyd DeSilva of Trinidad, West Indies; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call Monday, February 23, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Rhea will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
