Rev. Gregory C. LeStrange, 55, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Francis House. Born in Binghamton on Wednesday, April 11, 1956, he was ordained to the priesthood on May 15, 1982. Father Gregg was a graduate of Catholic Central School in Binghamton and a 1978 graduate of Le Moyne College. He also graduated from St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto. Father Gregg served as associate pastor at St. John the Baptist Church in Syracuse, Sacred Heart Church in Cicero and St. Mary's Church in Baldwinsville. He later served as pastor at Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville until July 2006 when he began serving as pastor at St. Joseph's Church in Camillus. Involved in many community activities, Father Gregg was also currently serving on the board of directors of Catholic Charities, Francis House, Le Moyne College and the Samaritan Center. In 2003 he received the Bishop Medallion Award for the House of Providence and in 2009 he received the Samaritan Center Award. Father Gregg was predeceased by his mother, Elaine S. Murphy LeStrange; father, Lewis J. LeStrange; and sister, Linda M. LeStrange . Surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian L. and Sarah LeStrange of Tampa, Florida, and Scott J. and Amy LeStrange of Onondaga Hill. In addition to his brothers, Father Gregg is survived by his nieces and nephews, Matthew and Emma, Alexandria, Grant, Francesca, Wesley and Spencer; and several aunts, uncles and cousins whom he dearly loved. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, December 15 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A Vigil Service will follow at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, December 16 at St. Joseph’s Church. Father Gregg will be laid to rest Saturday, December 17 in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus.
