Renard "Ray" Iannettone

Renard Ray Iannettone, 82, of Camillus, passed away Monday, August 18, 2008. Born in Syracuse on Sunday, May 9, 1926, he was the son of Antonio Iannettone and Marie Cecconi Iannettone. Ray was a World War II Navy veteran. An active communicant of Holy Family Church, Ray served as a Eucharistic minister, altar server, funeral luncheon co-captain, Bingo volunteer, and member of the Holy Family Seniors. He was employed by Easy Washer and Allied Chemical. Ray also ushered at Syracuse University for 20 years and was employed by the New York State Fair at Gate #12. Surviving are his devoted family, including his loving wife, Mary Jane; children, Ann and William Merrick, Jacqueline and David Dreas, Deborah and Gary Schiffer, Anthony and Mary Iannettone and Renard and Victoria Iannettone, and Howard Knowles, Steve Knowles and Richard and Irene Knowles; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Anthony Toscano and Peter Mangano; sisters-in-law, Shirley Iannettone and Rita Baltas. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elinor. The family wishes to thank Deborah Lake, Charles Cooney and Marie Sommers for the support and care they gave Ray.Services will be Friday, August 22, 2008 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Thursday, August 21, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, "Ray of Sunshine", c/o Don Schiffer, 114 Suffolk Rd., Syracuse, NY 13219 to support a memory walk in honor of Don's grandfather.
