Regina R. Thomson, 88, of Camillus, passed away Sunday at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a graduate of St. John the Baptist School where she was valedictorian and received her bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne College. Regina was employed by the Onondaga County Dept. of Social Services for 10 years and was an elementary school teacher for many years for the Westhill School District. A communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, she was also a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and Funeral Guild. Regina loved spending her winters in Fort Meyers, FL at Cross Creek with her husband and community of friends. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, cooking, entertaining and her daily walks. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend.
Regina was predeceased by her parents, John and Sophie Stachnik; granddaughter, Sarah Greenwood; and brother, John Stachnik.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Richard; son, Richard M. of Camillus; daughters, Mary Beth Almeida of Pulaski, Karen Thomson of Camillus and Patricia (Angelo Taglioni) Thomson of Solvay; grandchildren, John, Nick, Sean, Alex, Aubrey and Brooke; great-grandchildren, Christiano, Jesse, Grayson, Brady and Sadie; brother, David (Kelly) Stachnik of Plattsburgh; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, December 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m.
Regina will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt.
