Raymond J. Szczech

Raymond J. Szczech, 72, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday at home, surrounded by his loving family.

A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, Ray was a proud graduate of Solvay High School and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Le Moyne College. He built a successful career as an IT specialist, beginning his journey at Lipe-Rollway and Excellus BlueCross BlueShield. He later dedicated 25 years to Modis, formerly Ajilon, before retiring in 2014. 

Ray was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church. An avid skier, he found joy on the slopes and had a deep passion for traveling. In Ray’s retirement, he generously gave his time and talents to helping others with remodeling projects, always eager to lend a hand. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Ray’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Ray was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Helen Szczech.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Jane “Janie”; son, Jacob of Baldwinsville; granddaughter, River; brother, John (Laurie) of Camillus; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

To celebrate Ray’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A Panikhida Service will follow at 6:30 p.m. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 10 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 401 Hamilton St., Syracuse.

Raymond will be laid to rest in Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville.
