Raymond S. Shutsa, 95, of Camillus, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at home. He was born in Uniontown, PA and moved to Syracuse in the early 1930s.
A graduate of Vocational High School, Raymond attended SU before moving to Camillus. He served in the 871st Airborne Engineers in the Pacific and was employed with Crucible Steel. He was a former post commander of the VFW Post 5284 and chief of the Fairmount Fire Department.
Raymond was predeceased by his wife, Jean, in 2012; and daughter, Sharon, in 2007.
Surviving are his daughter, Catherine (Joseph) Bottino; grandson, David (Sarah O’neil); great-granddaughter, Alexyss O’neil; and son-in-law, Gary Nash.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 6 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Raymond will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
