Phyllis Jean McCarthy, 67, of Romulus, passed away peacefully Monday, June 4, 2007 at Geneva General Hospital. Born in Syracuse on Friday, July 7, 1939, she was a graduate of West Genesee High School and lived in Romulus since 2000. Phyllis was formerly employed by Empire Blue Cross & Blue Shield. She also tended bar for several years at her family-owned Camillus Clubhouse. An artist, she won first prize at the New York State Fair She was also an avid bowler. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, John C. McCarthy; daughters and son-in-law, Theresa McCarthy of Morrisville, Tina Galvin of Lugoff, South Carolina and Carmella and Brad Karagosian of Elbridge; sons and daughters-in-law, John C. and Brenda McCarthy II of Memphis and Dan and Cindy McCarthy of Camillus; sister, Joyce Ritner of Phoenix, Arizona; nine grandchildren and nieces and nephew. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Tuesday, June 5, 2007 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Camillus.
