Phyllis Heukrath, 87, formerly of Baldwinsville,Syracuse and Dunkirk,passed away peacefully Thursday at home. Phyllis had been an active member of the Canton Woods Senior Center for several years where she enjoyed playing pinochle, billiards and shuffleboard. She won several medals in shuffleboard in the Sr. Olympics and qualified for the Nationals several times. When Phyllis retired from Laubach Literacy (now ProLiteracy) after 25 years of service, she continued her dedication as a volunteer for many years after. A loving sister, mother, grandmother and aunt, she is survivedby her sister, Loretta of Dunkirk; sons, David, Douglas and Daniel; daughters, Diane, Deborah and Denise; grandchildren, Tonya, Kody and Jonna; and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis will be remembered as a loving mother who always encouraged her children to be their best. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
