Phillip M. Vishnesky, 71, of Onondaga Hill, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. Born in Scranton, PA, he lived in the Syracuse area since 1964. A graduate of the University of Dayton in Ohio, Phillip received his master's degree from SUNY Cortland. He was a physical education teacher at the West Genesee High School for 34 years. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the Adirondacks. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Linda Hadley; children, Sandra Kupfer of Phoenix, NY, Phillip of Syracuse and Laurel (Gregory) Bishop of Valhalla; sister, Margaret (Bill) Candy of Cincinnati, OH; brother, Norbert (Carmen) of Harrisburg, PA; grandchildren, Courtney, Nicole, Christian, Joseph, Madeline, Gabriel, Leo and Nicholas; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, March 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Friday, March 14 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Phillip will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery.
