Philip Schanzle, 76, of Syracuse, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at home. He was born in Marcellus on Thursday, April 4, 1935 and was the son of Arthur Philip Schanzle and Hazel Julia Lucas Schanzle. He lived in Marcellus before moving to the Syracuse area. Philip was an Army veteran stationed in Germany. He retired from Cardinal Health Systems in Syracuse. An avid reader, he also enjoyed photography and crossword puzzles. Philip was predeceased by his sister, Gloria Kennedy; and brother, George Schanzle. Surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Edward Copley of Fairmount; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 1 at noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus, with Rev. Heather Williams officiating. Philip will be laid to rest privately in Highland Cemetery, Marcellus.
