Peter R. Giacobbi, 73, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Francis House. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was born on Thursday, July 7, 1938. He was a graduate of CBA and attended St. Andrew’s and St. Bernard’s seminaries in Rochester, and LeMoyne College in Syracuse. He partnered with his father, Peter, at Giacobbi Excavating & Grading and retired from Hunt Real Estate after more than 30 years as a successful residential real estate agent. Peter adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with his family. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed SU sports. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Peter Giacobbi and Verna “Nellie” Pennisi Giacobbi; sister, Roslyn Nichols in 2006; and his son, Mark in 1970. Surviving are his children, Peter Jr. of Tucson, Arizona, Elissa (Michael) Soulia of Camillus, and Neil (Bethany Godsoe) of Brooklyn; sister, Jean Rizzo of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Anabel, Margot and Luca; nieces, Karen, Kristine and Michele; and nephews, Vincent and Michael. Peter’s family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone at Hospice and Francis House for all the care given to him during his illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 10 at 11 a.m. in Most Holy Rosary Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 to 11 a.m. preceding the Mass. Burial will be private in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Peter’s memory to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
