Peter Paul Dudiak, 68, of Camillus, passed away Friday at Upstate University Hospital Community Campus. Born in Hamburg, Germany, he moved to the US in the mid-1950s and to Camillus in 1996. A 1970 graduate of St. Basil’s Prep School and also a former teacher and principal, Peter earned his master's degree from the Catholic University of Washington. He was a priest for 20 years and pastor and communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church and worked for New Venture Gear after priesthood. Peter enjoyed traveling, gardening, golfing and spending time with his family and dogs.
Peter was predeceased by his mother, Helena Semeiew.
Surviving are his wife, Oksana Dudiak; stepdaughters, Jessica Manning of Camillus and Lara O'Bannion of Baldwinsville; stepson, Rory (Emily) O'Bannion of Fairbanks, Alaska; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth (Bob) Stanton, Luke Manning, Gillian Coffey and Morgan Coffey; sister, Maria Volfe of Rochester; sister-in-law, Helen (George) Kelley of N. Syracuse; brother-in-law, Jerry (Mary) Masztaler of Camillus; nephew, Richard (Michele) Chacinski of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, March 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A panakhyda service will be at 6:30 p.m.
Services will be Wednesday, March 11 at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Peter will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
