Paul P. Hurst, 87, of Camillus, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020. Born in Ogdensburg, he lived in Gouverneur. Paul moved to Rome, NY in 1959 and settled in Camillus in 1965. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Paul was a 1951 graduate of Gouverneur High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from SUNY Potsdam and his Master of Education from SU. Paul was employed with the Jordan Elbridge School District for 30 years before retiring in 1992 and spent 21 years as the principal. He volunteered at the Erie Canal.
Paul was predeceased by his sister, Carol Gigon; and brother, David Hurst.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Irene Mummau; daughters, Shelley (Richard) Hay of Marcellus and Victoria (Andrew) Hughes of Dexter; son, Andrew of St. Petersburg, FL; ten grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be private. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at a later date. Paul will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
