Paul E. Januszka, 76, of Lakeland, passed away Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Paul retired from Niagara Mohawk and was a board member and treasurer of Empower Federal Credit Union. A graduate of Sacred Heart High School, he coached the junior varsity basketball team for 14 years and not only loved his players but loved to reminisce with them about those years whenever the opportunity arose. Above all, Paul loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Stella (Czerwinski) Januszka.
Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, the former Bobbie Kaszuba; daughters, Christina (Bill) Chapman of Baldwinsville, Sue (Tom) Darrow of Camillus, and Stephanie (Ed) Hamilton of Warners; grandchildren, Nathan and Jacob Darrow, Sarah (Mike) Smith, Elizabeth (Nick) Paventi, Michelle, Connor and Lauren Chapman and Sidney and Cole Hamilton; great-granddaughter, Skylar Smith; brothers, Charles (Carol) of Cincinnatus and Reggie of No. Syracuse; many sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 9 at 9:30 a.m. in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Paul will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Camillus.
