Paul L. Connelly, 84, of Camillus, passed away Friday at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he resided in the Camillus area since 1972. Paul graduated from Onondaga Valley High School and Syracuse University. He was an Army veteran. Formerly employed by I.B.M., he retired in 1993 after 25 years. After the phone booth was removed at the Park West, Paul enjoyed more time at the Sacketts Harbor American Legion. He was a former member of the Camillus Elks. An avid SU sports fan, he was captain of the Post Standard City League All-Star Basketball team in 1955. Basketball was his favorite sport but Paul also competed in football, baseball and track. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Paul was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy Mowins and Patricia Ragan and brother, Jim Connelly.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former Diana Grady; daughter, Mary Pat (Norman) Warren of Gananoque, Ontario; sons, Paul of Peru, NY, Michael (Michele) of Clay and David of Syracuse; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, September 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A service will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
