Patricia A. Zurek

Patricia A. Zurek, 72, of Syracuse, a cherished wife, mother, and vibrant spirit in our community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at home. 

Pat was born in San Diego, CA, raised in Auburn, lived in Skaneateles, and settled in Syracuse in 2005. She was a proud graduate of Auburn Central High School and furthered her education by earning an associate's degree from Cayuga Community College and also attended Empire State University. She dedicated over 20 years of her professional life to serving as an executive assistant at Hand Held Products, a division of Welch Allyn, retiring in 2013. Her colleagues remember her as a diligent and compassionate worker who always brought a ray of sunshine to the office.

Outside of her professional life, Pat was an enthusiastic spinning and exercise instructor at the YMCA in Skaneateles and Pine Grove in Camillus, passionately inspiring others to lead healthy and active lives.

Pat’s creativity knew no bounds; she was a gifted artist, expressing herself through drawing and painting, and she excelled in interior and floral design. Her beautiful flower beds and exquisite gardens reflected her love for nature, bringing color and joy to her surroundings. Pat relished the winters spent in Port Richey, Florida, with her devoted husband, Jeffrey, where they enjoyed the sun and the warmth of each other's company. She was a masterful planner who took great joy in hosting memorable Christmas parties at their home, creating cherished memories for her family and friends. Whether raising a glass of chardonnay in laughter or dancing to her favorite songs, she embraced life with passion and joy.

Pat was predeceased by her mother, Nancy Lynch.

Surviving are her husband of 18 years, Jeffrey; daughter, Rebecca (Brian) Scanlan of Auburn; son, Eric (Gretchen) Curry of Carlisle, MA; stepdaughters, Jessica (Todd) Boucher and Rebecca (Alex Weinhardt) Zurek, both of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, who she loved dearly, Kieran, Kate, Cameron, Cooper, Tyler, Addison, Stewart, Alexa, Curt, Jack, Onyx, and Riley; brother, Perry Lynch of Santa Rosa, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse.
