Ottar Emil Loland, 74, of Fairmount, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 at home. Born in Stavanger, Norway on Thursday, April 8, 1937, he was the son of Hans Kornelius Loland and Eli Kristine Olsen Loland. He was a 1961 graduate of Stavanger Tekniske Fagskole. He moved to the U.S. in 1963 and returned to Norway several times, having most recently settled in Fairmount in 1986. Passionate about cars, Ottar was a Volvo automobile mechanic. He owned Scandinavian Auto, Inc. and was former owner of Swedish Auto Service. Ottar enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and visiting his camp near Stavanger, Norway. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Lynda Horton; son and daughter-in-law, Hans Petter and Cynthia Loland of Seattle, Washington; daughters and son-in-law, Kristine Loland of Sturtevant, Wisconsin and Tanya and Ronald Ross of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Christian and Alex Loland, Cameron and Nani Ross; brother, Kare Loland of Tananger, Norway; and several nieces and nephews here and in Norway. Services will be private. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
