Othello Francis Anastasi, 90, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on November 7, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in January of 1930 in Avis, PA to the late Venanzo and Jennie (Grieco) Anastasi.
“Frank” enjoyed a very successful career with Bear Manning/Norton Co., working his way up from the shop floor to account executive in the Upstate New York region. He retired from Norton Co. in 1997. Frank told many a tale describing how he built great rapport with coworkers and customers while working with Norton Co.
Frank, nicknamed “Skip,” loved his family and watching it grow over the years. Gatherings were highlights for him to enjoy the stories of the generations growing up around him and his chance to share so many from his full life. Memories of growing up in Albany and stories of his high school football success were always entertaining. Frank had many experiences from his time in the US Navy, serving on the USS Power, ME2. Frank especially loved the joy and challenges of raising his family with Mary Ellen.
Frank was predeceased by his wife, love and friend of 64 years, the former Mary Ellen Cavanaugh; brothers, John (Mary) and Leo; and sisters, Josephine “Tootie” (Ben) Rampulla and Leah (John) Keiper.
Surviving are his children, Linda, Ellen, David (Krissy) and Mark (Michelle); grandchildren, Aaron (Nicole), Vinnie (Kayleigh), Audrey (Mark Hennessy), Nathan (Dana) and Ben; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron and Natalie; and sister Phyllis (Nick) D’Alleva.
The Anastasi family welcomes all to visit with them on Thursday, November 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. in The Church of St. Michael and St. Peter, 4782 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse. Face masks are required.
A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in the church. Frank will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery at later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.
