Olga Banas, 87, of Camillus, passed away Monday at Upstate Medical Center. Born in Herkimer, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School. She was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. Olga was a communicant of Holy Family Church and an avid boating enthusiast. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. She is remembered for mailing Christmas cookies.
Olga was predeceased in 2016 by her husband of 56 years, John Sr.; parents, Anthony and Katherine Lytwynec; infant brothers, Theodore and Daniel; brothers, Nicholas, Michael, John, Thedore “Fet,” and Joseph; and sisters, Anna and Mary.
Surviving are her sons, John Jr. (Vicky), and Ronald (Eve); daughter, Maria Banas Bailey; sons, Kenneth (Christine), and Robert; grandchildren, Deirdre M. Bailey, Jessica Banas, Melissa K. Bailey, and Lee Banas; sister, Helen Murphy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be private.
Olga will be laid to rest at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
