Oleksandr Motelytskyy, 84, of Syracuse, passed away at Upstate Medical Center on Wednesday. Born in Boliazubi, Ukraine he moved to Ternopil, Ukraine in 1966, and later moved to the United States in 2007. Oleksandr spent his entire career as a woodworker before retiring in 2005. He was a member of the First Ukrainian Pentecostal Church. His favorite hobby was beekeeping and he enjoyed writing poems.
Oleksandr was predeceased by his wife, Nina; parents, Yarochtey and Daria; son, Volodia; and sister, Galina Volianik.
Surviving are his daughters, Liliia Kaplun of Lakeland, and Larysa Dzhyhun of Ukraine; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Maria Polikrovska of Ukraine; and brother, Tonik Motelyskyy of Ukraine.
First service will be celebrated Friday, April 29 at 6 p.m. at the First Ukrainian Pentecostal Church, 3875 Warners Rd., Syracuse. Second service will be Saturday, April 30 at 10 a.m. at the church. Oleksandr will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
