Norman A. Jock, 76, of Camillus, died peacefully at home Friday, November 17, 2006 after a long illness. Born on Tuesday, March 18, 1930, he was the son of Norman Andrew Jock, Sr. and Verna Blanche Foster. He was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. Norm was employed for 38 years as a District Engineer with the New York Telephone Co., retiring in 1985. A 1948 graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy, he also attended Syracuse University. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was also a former member of the Camillus Elks. A Korean veteran, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church. Norm enjoyed golf, boating and fishing with family and friends at his summer residence in Ontario, Canada and spending his winters in Vero Beach, Florida for the past several years. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, the former Barbara Jean Anderson; his four loving children, Connie (Jay) Mason, Debbie (Doug) Brittain, David (Julie) Jock, Steve (Judy) Jock; his brother, Gary (Flora) Jock; nine precious grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Immanuel United Methodist Church with Rev. Craig French officiating. Friends may call Tuesday, November 21, 2006 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Entombment will be private at Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Norman's memory to Immanuel United Methodist Church, 303 Kasson Rd., Camillus, NY 13031.
