Nives Valentina (Puissi) Duncan, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on Monday, February 11, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Nives was born in Tarvisio, Italy on April 14, 1927. She grew up in her beloved Alps, surrounded by a large family group. Her memories of that time were rich with stories about her family, upbringing and WWII. She competed in the Italian Nationals in downhill skiing at Corina d’Ampezzo and would later honeymoon there. She met her husband, David, an Army musician and they married and moved to the US in 1947. Mom was hardworking, with a single-minded determination to complete what she started. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, St. Camillus and Community General Hospital, where she was proud to receive her 1,000-hour pin. Mom loved nature and wildlife, which she shared with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mom was very patriotic and loved the hardworking and generous spirit of the United States. Her unique individuality will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her children, David Duncan, Claudia (Mic) Miceli and Kelly J. Duncan; grandchildren, Justin (Mary) Duncan, Jarrod (Jess) Duncan, Corey Miceli, Caitlyn (Corey) Birchler and Jordan Miceli; and five great-grandchildren.
The family sends deep gratitude and thanks to Julie Fabrizio, Kaula McLaren and Amy King for their company, care and understanding.
