Nicholas Macrides

Nicholas Macrides, 83, of Grand Island, formerly of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, he was an Army veteran. Nicholas taught photography and art in the North Syracuse School District, retiring after 37 years. He enjoyed fishing and was involved with the arts.

Nicholas was predeceased by his brother, Ernest; and sister, Penelope Macrides.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara; sons, J. Christopher (Paula) of Grand Island and Jason (Vicki Bailey) of Selbyville, DE; and grandchildren, Karli, Nico, Trent, Dorothea and Sophia.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, July 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

Services will be Saturday, July 8 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
