Nancy (Crockett) Czerniel, 76, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a proud graduate of Henninger High School. Nancy dedicated 35 years to the Division of Environmental Health at the Onondaga County Health Department, where she found great fulfillment in her work and cherished the camaraderie of her colleagues.
Nancy was married to her beloved husband, Walter, for 54 wonderful years. Together, they raised two sons and built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. One of her greatest joys in life was being a grandmother. She adored spending time with her grandsons—visiting, hosting, and cheering them on at their sporting events. They never failed to bring a bright smile to her face and filled her heart with endless love.
Nancy had a deep love for traveling, especially trips to the beach with her family and friends. She also had a talent for finding just the right gifts, always thinking of the needs and happiness of others. Whether she was shopping, planning a get-together, or simply sharing a quiet moment, Nancy brought joy and warmth to those around her. She lived her life with a generous heart and a vibrant spirit, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Dorine Crockett; and brother, James Crockett.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Walter; sons, Kevin and Mark (Karen), both of Syracuse; grandsons, Nathan, Brandon, and Connor; brothers, Donald (Mary Jo) Crockett of Camillus, William (Dorothy) Crockett of Medford, OR, and Richard Crockett of Syracuse; sister, Carol (James) Cummings of Camillus; sister-in-law, Cheryl Crockett of Camillus; and several nieces and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Nancy’s caregivers for their compassionate care and unwavering support over the past year.
