Monna J. Allen, 92, of Camillus, passed away Sunday, December 31. Born and raised in Hornell, Monna's journey through life was marked by love, devotion, and a deep commitment to her family and community.
Monna's story began in Hornell, where she was born and raised, and later graduated from Hornell Senior High School. In 1952, she embarked on a new chapter in Syracuse, a city that would become her home for many years. Her adventurous spirit led her to Arizona from 1959 to 1966, where she embraced new experiences and made lasting memories. In 1966, Monna returned to Syracuse, where she continued to build a life filled with joy and purpose.
During her professional career, Monna worked for General Electric Co. for three years as an assembler.
Monna's spiritual journey was an integral part of her life, and she found solace and community at West Genesee Hills Baptist Church. For many years, she lent her voice to the choir, enriching the congregation with her musical talents. As a soloist, she touched the hearts of those around her, creating beautiful moments of shared spirituality.
Above all, Monna cherished spending time with her family and friends. Her warm and generous spirit created a welcoming home, and her love was a guiding force in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Whether gathered around the dinner table or celebrating special occasions, Monna's presence brought comfort and joy to those she loved.
Monna was predeceased by her husband, David; and parents, Amos and Dorothy Jones.
Surviving are son, David P. (Linda Downing) Allen of Green Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Dryw and Diedre Downing; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were private.
Monna will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
