Milford "Mike" R. Greene, 85, of Camillus, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 with his loving wife by his side. Mike and Barb were together for 70 years, they met on a hay-ride in Junior High and were married in 1953. They graduated from Central High School in 1950 and then from Ohio University. Mike served for almost eight years in the Air Force and Air Force Reserve attaining the rank of captain. He was employed with the New York Central Railroad in Springfield, Ohio and the Ohio Department of Highways, Bridge Bureau, until moving back to New York in 1960. Mike then worked for the NYSDOT and retired as the regional structures engineer in 1992.
An avid golfer and bowler, Mike was active in many leagues with friends and colleagues. As recently as this past February, he was still bowling with Barb. He enjoyed sporting events, especially watching his kids, grandkids and SU.
An active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church for many years, Mike served as a vestry person and warden. He sang in the choir and was a consistent volunteer and handyman for the church until this past year. Mike was involved with Meals on Wheels and delivered warm meals to shut-ins for 20 years.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, William Raymond Greene and Lena Pansy Brough Greene Birdseye Dowd; sister, Lois Budd; and brother, Raymond Greene.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, the former Barbara Jones; sons, Mark (Cindy), John (Karen), Andy (Lynda) and Peter (Marybeth); twin sister, Mildred; brother, Robert (Jan); ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. We will miss his great sense of humor, advice and support. He was a friend to all and will be missed by everyone who had an opportunity to know him.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, September 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Tuesday, September 20 at 10 a.m. in St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
